Ceiling light taking the shape of Mermaid sculpture. The young woman is dressed in the fashion of the Middle-Ages. The study of ancient legends and the rediscovery of past styles guide us naturally to this ceiling light : combination of mythology and technology. Inspired by Bavarian ceiling lights from 15th and 16th centuries, that Dürer loved, this bright mermaid is a fine example of medieval inspiration ironworks. The sense of "troubadour" style is exalted with this creation in which the mysterious figure of the mermaid is dressed in the fashion of the Middle- Ages, with a lace collar and wearing a soft hat. Heritage of interiors of the Renaissance, this metal creature wears a escutcheon for receive the coat of arm of his owner. This kind of work allowed the assertion of his status and his social reputation. We find in this sculpture a great feeling of softness and mystery which coincide with the eclecticism of the 19th century.
