3 tier Baccarat chandelier in cut crystal. While the smaller version of this kind are easier to find, it is extremely rare to come across such a large chandelier for this period. It can be associated to the renowned, "Harcourt" collection. The Baccarat glassworks was founded in Lorraine in 1764. Its crystal water and the art of cutting made it famous, as did its know-how in the use of glass in superimposed and engraved layers. Opaline is Baccarat's other specialty. Since its creation, this crystal works has remained one of the emblematic companies of French luxury. A "Baccarat" can be recognized by its generous, skilfully cut crystal.
