Rare gothic chandelier in beaten iron. Held by a snake griping with a bird. “Haute époque” style made in the 19th century.

The Haute Epoque refers to furniture and works of art dating from the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the 17th century. It can be Gothic, Romanesque, Byzantine, Baroque, Arabic as well… It therefore encompasses everything relating to the Middle Ages, according to the imagination of the latter specific to the nineteenth century, a period when the term "Haute Epoque" was invented. Chandeliers from this period often have religious and natural references.

Rare lustre en fer battu de style gothique, tenu par un serpent enroulé en prise avec un oiseau stylisé. Pure style haute époque probablement réalisé début XIXème.

La Haute époque désigne des meubles et objets d'art datant du Moyen Âge, de la Renaissance et du XVIIème siècle. Il peut être aussi bien gothique, roman, byzantin, baroque, arabe… Il englobe donc tout ce qui a trait au Moyen Âge, selon l'imaginaire de celui-ci propre notamment au XIXème siècle, période où le terme "Haute époque" fut inventé. Les Lustres de cette période ont souvent des références religieuses et naturelles.

18th Century Crystal

Before Lead crystal was discovered, the glass was mixed with Manganese, Tungstene or other materials. These materials used to give a smoky, violet or yellow tint to the glass. Our 18th Century Crystal recreates this effect, making it perfect for pieces that need to look antique or fit in a collection.
