Nautilus. Gilded bronze and aged silver. Creation Régis Mathieu. Nautilus, standing frozen in a flash of its own making, is a breathtaking jellyfish. This luminous sculpture, suspended in the air, appears to us, afloat in an imaginary sea. Its overhead lighting highlights its body and casts captivating shadows. The backlight coming from the dome creates a soft glow that reveals the magic of the sculpted details. This sculpted work of Régis Mathieu evokes the fascinating journey of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, where came to life the many mysteries of our seas. Captain Nemo’s name resonates, recalling the extraordinary adventures of Jules Verne. Antique bronze work serves as the foundation for this piece, a craftsmanship inherited from the master craftsmen of the 19th century. The meticulously applied gilding and aged silver bring the mollusk to life, revealing even the smallest details of its delicate tentacles. It is a tribute to the ornamental grammars of the time, where art and craftsmanship combined to create works of unparalleled beauty.
Nautilus.
