The 1920-1940 Art Deco style is the first style that is movement of a truly global and simultaneous nature. It is also the first one to fully combine architecture and decoration. It takes its name from the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts which was held in Paris in 1925. Inspired by Cubism, Fauvism and African and Egyptian art, Art Deco can be defined in three words: order, color and geometry. Art Deco furniture and lightings benefit from a prestigious production for wealthy clients, from the Chrysler Building to the Palace of the Maharajah of Indore, the Stoclet Palace, the Champs Elysées theater or the large transatlantic liners of the time. The greatest artists in terms of Lighting are Jacques-Emile Ruhlman, Jules Leleu, Jean-Michel Frank, Jean-Charles Moreux, and many others.
