Asymmetrical Régence wall lamp (Louis XIV / Louis XV) has two sconces held by a nymph. Right and left models, note the basins and bobèches (candle holders) differ on each arm.

The Regency style is transitional and is situated between the Louis XIV and Louis XV styles around 1700 to 1730, under the regency of Philippe d´Orléans (1715-1723) Light in interiors was a constant concern under the Regency, which led to the multiplication of sources - candlesticks, candelabras, chandeliers and sconces - as well as elements that could reflect it - crystal pendants and wall mirror. On either side of the mirrors are fixed sconces whose asymmetrical shape offers two light sources, upwards and in the center towards the mirror. Animals are part of the decor: a dragon defies a kind of lizard whose sinuous body follows the shape of the arm. The room, enlarged by this endless perspective, takes on a magical character, in the evening, when the flames of the candles are reflected in the mirrors. The Regency style will last for a short time, it is characterized by the softening of the lines and the solemn aspect of the furniture manufactured until then, as well as by a very clear tendency to lightness and elegance. The invention of the curved line foreshadows the Louis XV style.
