Chandelier with 7 lights by Carlo Rizzarda. Son of Luigi and Tommasina Saccari, he spent his childhood at the historic Antona building, where his father had a carter's workshop. At 16, he started working with a blacksmith in Farra (in the locality of Feltre) and took evening classes at a drawing school, where he won an award as the best student in industrial design. For four years, he studied with Professor Giacomo Adolfatto. In 1904, he obtained a scholarship in Milan, which enabled him to be engaged in the artistic workshop of the famous master ironworker Alessandro Mazzucotelli . In 1905, he enrolled in the design school "Umanitaria", directed at the time by Eugenio Quarti and Mazzucotelli who worked as a teacher for the forging and ornamentation course. During these years, he also attended the style course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brera, with Professor Osimo, then From 1907 to 1911, he taught drawing in Milan and Lodi. Taking part in numerous exhibitions around the world, Rizzarda became famous in South America and, in 1925, he was commissioned to carry out the bronze and wrought iron door of the Basilica of Our Lady of Mercy in Buenos Aires. In 1926 he bought the Palazzo Bovio-Villabruna-Cumano in Feltre to collect his works and the works of art he had purchased.
