In the grand tradition of semi-precious stones, Mathieu shows a particularly innovative example with a very seductive aesthetic. This collection’s theme, interstellar, recounts the history of the planets; a shuttle covered in rock crystal allegedly stole light from the stars to light our sleepless nights. One can also imagine the mechanical gears and industrial design that inspired the art of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries chandelier becoming the signature of Mathieu Lustrerie. It was inevitable one should be acquired by the Mobilier National Français for its early twenty-first century decorative art collection.

Cette collection dont le thème est interstellaire, raconte une histoire de planètes habillées de navettes de cristal de roche qui auraient volé la lumière des étoiles pour éclairer nos nuits blanches... On peut également imaginer que les rouages mécaniques et l’esthétique industrielle qui accompagnent l’art des XXème et XXIème siècles sont les inspirateurs de ces lustres devenus emblématiques de la signature Mathieu Lustrerie.

18th Century Crystal
Before Lead crystal was discovered, the glass was mixed with Manganese, Tungstene or other materials. These materials used to give a smoky, violet or yellow tint to the glass. Our 18th Century Crystal recreates this effect, making it perfect for pieces that need to look antique or fit in a collection.
