A supernova is an exploding star, briefly and fantastically increasing its brightness. Viewed from Earth, a supernova often appears as a new star, when in reality it is vanishing. This silvered bronze object, warmly nuanced with natural rock crystal peaks, reflects this illusion. Two joined cones sway together while suspended counterbalanced. Chandelier or lamp, its two ends of rock crystal through which light cast shadows from its scholarly geometry. The natural and medical properties of rock crystal have been known in the east since the dark ages and sought after by the west. Straight from the collection «Meteorites» this chandelier sculpture designed by Régis Mathieu is a timeless decorative art object.
Une Supernova est l’explosion d’une étoile, accompagnée d’une augmentation brève mais fantastiquement grande de sa luminosité. Vue depuis la Terre, une supernova apparaît souvent comme une étoile nouvelle, alors qu’en réalité, elle résulte de sa disparition. Cet objet en bronze argenté et doré, au corps chaleureusement nuancé et aux pointes de cristal de roche naturel, est un écho à cette illusion. Deux cônes réunis comme un diabolo se balancent au fil d’un palan décalé. Ils se font lustre ou lampe à poser, et proposent à leurs deux extrémités un bloc de cristal de roche traversé par la lumière, pour éclairer en jouant des ombres de ses géométries savantes. Les vertus naturelles et médicinales du cristal de roche sont connues en orient depuis la nuit des temps et recherchées à l’occident. Tout droit issu de la collection «Météorites», ce lustre- sculpture dessiné par Régis Mathieu est un objet d’art décoratif simplement intemporel.
